Maybe out of sight, but not out of mind!
We are happy to help you consider career alternatives, discuss job search techniques, make use of our office library, and connect you with employers who typically connect with us.
Perhaps you are in a position to assist current students in their search for an internship or beginning career position, or to help other alumni as they seek out professional opportunities. Your advice to current students and fellow alums, your participation in office and campus programs, and reporting of opportunities in your organization or community, are always welcomed and greatly appreciated. Below are some ways we can help each other:
SIGI 3 (pronounced "siggy") is a state-of-the-art online career guidance system that can help clarify career interests and values and suggest career alternatives. You may visit Career Services and spend as much time on Sigi 3 as you wish.
We use two popular and sophisticated tools called the Strong Interest Inventory and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator that examine interests and preferences on a range of familiar subjects. These assessments are available online but are offered in the context of career counseling with a Career Services staff member. A great paper-pencil tool called the Career Exploration Inventory may also be requested and sent to you if you wish.
Under "Career Exploration & Planning" in the Current Student section of this website you will find additional recommendations for finding answers to your career-related questions. Also, Tips for Improving Your Career Health is a little brochure readily available upon request from Career Services.
JHC is a password-protected data management and referral system that allows students and alumni to check out employer profiles, view job information, post their resumes, refer themselves and be referred to organizations in the market for college-educated talent. While most of the opportunities listed in JHC are pre-professional or beginning career positions, there are others that will appeal to experienced workers, depending on the field or specialty. JHC is worth a look. Click here to start the registration process.
On the other hand, if you are an alum who is in need of a student employee, intern, prospective or recent UIndy graduate, or fellow alumnus/a for your organization or business, please let us try to help you address that need. Click here to register your firm and post your opportunity.
You may also want to visit Alumni Central, the new online community for University of Indianapolis alumni. In addition to keeping you abreast of the various services available to you and the many wonderful opportunities to become involved on campus, you can network with other alumni for both professional and personal benefit in the Business Card Exchange section of the site. If you are looking for a new job, you may post your resume for other alumni to view. Employers of UIndy alumni can post their positions on Alumni Central to search for qualified alumni, as well as on the JobHoundConnect site mentioned above, maintained by the Office of Career Services staff. Please be advised that these are two separate employment data management systems. Connect now with Alumni Central.
